Valdosta State University, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are still looking into an incident in which someone gained unauthorized access to a campus server, according to a Campus Technology article.
The incident, which was originally reported back in December 2009, was said to have affected up to 170,000 people. The server held both student and staff social security numbers, and grades dating back to the mid-1990s.
The campus’ IT director said they have found no evidence that any personal data was accesses or transferred, and that the server has since been securely removed from the network.
The university has also contacted those whose information might have been exposed and has set up a Web site to share updates on the investigation.
