Being able to point students to a quick tutorial of their new credential can be an easy first step in getting new students acquainted with not only their ID but the campus community as well. This week we’re highlighting Lewis University’s student ID card video, which gives a rundown the capabilities of the campus card.

Boston University cleverly highlights some of the many ways in which a campus card can meet its demise. Turning the tables on students, BU’s “I lost my Terrier Card” video sees students fessing up to losing their BU ID cards, and puts a humorous spin on a situation that would otherwise be a hassle.

Bill Norwood has been honored with the inaugural award for Lifetime Achievement in the Campus Card Industry. He was presented the award by CR80News at the 2017 NACCU Annual Conference in Orlando, in recognition of his thirty-plus years of pioneering innovation in student IDs. After founding the FSUCard program at Florida State, he went on to lead efforts at leading industry vendors, as well as assist campuses across the country and around the globe.

The latest stop on the CR80News Card Office Tour series takes us to Lynchburg, Virginia and the campus of Liberty University. Boasting one of the largest student populations in the country at 110,000 — many of whom are distance learners — the office at Liberty has quite the issuance job on its hands.

The University of Cincinnati has built an effective and efficient means to increase throughput at its campus dining facilities with a clever use of existing hardware and a few additional cost-effective components.

Mobile credentials, and by extension mobile access, are often thought of as being “on the roadmap” types of functions. Lots of campuses would love to have it, but few are actually moving into the mobile realm. One campus that has turned to mobile access is Emory University, where students can leverage Heartland’s OneCard Mobile solution to gain access to a campus library, as well as make purchases at select vending machines while inside.

It’s import to market a campus card program to both inform students and the campus community of the many uses for their ID as well as to reinforce the value that the credential holds. It can be difficult to make what is a fairly common task into a novel, engaging and fun experience for your target audience.
