Western Kentucky University (WKU) announced the launch of the WKU Red Wave Student Group, designed to build excitement and boost school spirit for university athletic events.
For only $10, students can become part of the group and participate in exclusive events and activities during the WKU athletic season. Students will earn points by attending WKU athletic events and swiping their WKU ID card throughout the year.
Tuesday’s Lady Topper Basketball contest against Kentucky Wesleyan marked the first opportunity for students to earn points through the Red Wave Student Group. Students can earn points, which can be redeemed for WKU gear and other prizes, including having early access to NCAA Tournament basketball tickets.
Implementing WKU Red Wave will rejuvenate our student fan base and make them even more excited to attend to our home games, WKU Assistant Director for Athletic Marketing Thomas Harris said. Students will have a chance to enhance their fan experience by attending exclusive events, being able to receive priority for postseason tickets and more. We rely on our students to make the in-game atmosphere exciting.
Students will get two points for every basketball game they attend, and there will also be several volleyball, baseball and softball games that will be worth points as well. WKU’s final home football game, on Nov. 30 against Arkansas State, will be worth 10 points.
