Villanova pilot NFC video available on YouTube
If you want to see the NFC pilot project in action at Villanova University, the two partners in the project–Ingersoll Rand and CBORD–have posted a YouTube video giving a brief overview of the test.
Since November 2011, Villanova’s students and staff have been using the aptiQmobile Web-based service from Ingersoll Rand along with smart phones as their credential to access dormitories, academic buildings and administration offices. The NFC credential integrates with the school’s CS Gold campus card system from CBORD.
There are currently 42 participants–30 students and 12 faculty–involved in the trial which is expected to end in April. An NFC-equipped sleeve that fits over the iPhone, was used in the trial.
