category: Card Issuance
The big news in card issuance this week has been the announcement of the new HID FARGO Connect product. With FARGO Connect, card issuers can move to cloud-based card issuance and leverage multiple card printers remotely from a single device, as opposed to the old one-to-one formula that sees each printer tethered to a dedicated PC workstation.
HID FARGO Connect changes card issuance formula
Among the first card issuers to deploy HID’s new system is Kent State University, where the campus’ card office is leveraging tablets and the cloud-based capabilities of the card personalization solution to refine the student experience. The new card office setup aligns with the popular Apple Store concept and experience, and outfits card office employees with tablets and meets students on the office floor proactively, rather than forcing them to wait in lines for credentials to be printed.
As you’ll see in the video above, when leveraging a tablet the personalization data and photo can be captured from anywhere in the card office or outside. The data is then securely sent to a card printer via the cloud where the employee then retrieves the finished ID and meets the student on the floor to complete the transfer.
