Cardopoly anyone? That’s a game introduced at Utah State University to enable students, particularly freshmen and transfers, to get the most out of their campus card.
The game, the brainchild of Monica Tripler, manager of the university’s card office, is designed to reward students for visiting locations where their campus card can be used.
“This was an opportunity,” she said. “Until (students) are on campus and using their cards, they can’t find value in it.”
The game was produced in collaboration with the business school while the card office covered the game’s development costs.
Cardopoly, based on Monopoly, has 16 different locations for participants to visit and once 12 stamps have been acquired to verify they’ve visited the sites, the player turns in the board to the card office.
The first 500 participants to finish win a free t-shirt. Every player that completes the board is placed in the grand prize drawing. Prizes include an iPad and a $50 certificate to an ice cream shop. The game ends on Sept. 28.
