Students at Utah Valley University, the new name of Utah Valley State College in Orem, Utah, will soon have an ID card that will work as a Visa debit card as well as a bus pass. The new cards will be available in July when the university’s new name takes effect.
The school is collaborating with Utah Community Credit Union, where 20% of the student body has an account, to offer the Visa cards, according to the Daily Herald newspaper in Utah. The card cannot be used as a credit card.
“We’re trying to make it a more campus-wide and campus-accepted card as well as publicly accepted, too,” said one university official.
