Counterfeit stickers adhered to University of Hawaii campus cards could jeopardize the University’s relationship with the city transit agency. With advancing ID card technology, many if not most campuses have totally eliminated the use of stickers as a form of authentication for service. The lesson here … if you haven’t you should, or at least you should be prepared for some level of fraud.
The article even goes on to describe a step-by-step process of how the counterfeit stickers can be made:
1) Scan official pass.
2)Digitally change serial number.
3)Print image to scale on high-gloss paper.
4)Cut out pass, making sure that edges are smooth and regular.
5)Before adhering U-PASS to student ID, validate and/or renew your ID before adhering image.
As if any would-be cheat couldn’t figure it out on their own.
