Students at Burnley College in Lancashire (UK) are being offered free bus travel if they achieve 100% attendance in classes, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
The university is partnering with international public transport group, Transdev, on the project. Students with 100% attendance can use any Transdev bus service, seven days a week.
Students already receive reduced fares on weekly and monthly tickets on Transdev buses by displaying their current Burnley College Student ID card. With this new plan, students pay for the pass to use on buses at the beginning of the semester just they normally would, and then if they have 100 percent attendance in lessons and tutorials the fee will be refunded.
There’s nothing wrong with a bit of an incentive, said Burnley MP Gordon Birtwistle said. Though pupils need to show up regardless of the reward, it’s good to have something to aim towards. I am sure this will help many pupils.
