West Virginia University students can now enjoy web-based printing capabilities from any location with wireless internet, adding a new layer of convenience to the printing process on campus.
The new system is a web-based printing service that works with the Mountaineer Cards, the West Virginia Student ID. According to a report from The Daily Athenaeum, the new printing web portal mimics the existing system that students use to add funds to their IDs that could then be used for laundry or on-campus purchases.
Using the new web portal — powered by print and copy solutions provider, Pharos Systems International — students can use these stored-value accounts, called Mountie Bounty, to print wirelessly at various locations on campus with Wi-Fi and a printer.
Students can access the service by logging into myprinting.wvu.edu with a university e-mail account and a Mountie Bounty balance on their Mountaineer Card. Students can then send or upload print jobs to their WVU printing queues and swipe their Mountaineer Cards at the printer to complete the transaction.
Prior to the new web portal, students could print documents in campus libraries or in a campus copy center, but those jobs required students to log on to a physical computer provided at those locations. With the new system, students can upload jobs to their queue from anywhere with internet access, and from any device, alleviating the traffic at existing computer stations.
