South Alabama leverages pre-paid option to help students make purchases
The University of South Alabama has outfitted its students with a campus ID credential that enables funds to be loaded onto the card and used at various retail and restaurant locations in and around campus.
The university’s JagCard now features JagCash, funds that can been loaded onto that Student ID and that are usable at the campus bookstore, campus movie theater and a number of local dining locations. AL.com reports that in the time since their introduction, the new loadable cards have seen increased acceptance outside the campus as well, with Hungry Howie’s, Domino’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, two area CVS locations and a host of other local restaurants all accepting the new form of payment.
To load money onto their ID, students can either go directly to the JagCard office or visit the online fund transfer system, GET. Moving the reload system online has made life easier for parents and family members looking to provide their student with money for books and food, all while eliminating the need to write out and send paper checks. JagCash is equally convenient for students, as it reduces their need to carry cash or checks for daily expenses.
In addition to JagCash, the South Alabama student ID provides access the cardholder’s meal plan, acts as a library card, grants admission to athletic events, provides access to the recreation center, and even gives discounted movie ticket prices through the university’s Jaguar Productions.
