New York university seeks to increase off-campus card usage
University of Rochester students would like more off-campus businesses to accept their campus card’s flexible spending dollars. However, there is no set policy in place that would enable students to recommend which businesses they’d like to see as part of the program.
It’s become common for students to pay on campus with their campus card which means they don’t carry a lot of cash making off campus purchases difficult.
According to one administrator, the ideal participant is a business that is both within walking distance of campus and that already receives a high volume of student consumers.
If the university were able to figure out what businesses students want, adding them to the program could be easy if the retailer wanted to participate.
Retailers have to figure out if it’s worth the cost as there an eight percent fee which is split between the university and the company that administers the off-campus program.
