Finding that first job after graduation or landing the right internship can be a challenge, but Blackboard is now providing students with the opportunity to craft their own professional profile directly from Blackboard Learn.
Leveraging MyEdu, the new Enhanced Cloud Profile marks a redesign of the company’s student portfolio tool, creating a more holistic approach that enables students to tell their academic story, outline proficiencies and connect to job or internship opportunities.
Blackboard acquired MyEdu five months ago and has since integrated a number of student-focused tools directly into the company’s existing platform. The Enhanced Cloud Profile enables students to showcase a wide range of information including their skills, competencies, academic achievements and degree plans to peers, instructors and potential employers.
Acting as a kind of virtual résumé, the cloud profile displays pertinent information in a more compelling manner. Students can then browse relevant jobs and internship opportunities that match their skills and interests, as well as make their profiles visible to potential employers and connect directly with them regarding open positions.
Accompanying the Enhanced Cloud Profile is the redesign of Portfolios, a tool embedded in the learning environment that students and faculty use to collect and showcase their academic, professional and personal work. Portfolios provides a forum to display course assignments, projects and publications.
The solutions work in tandem, with the Enhanced Cloud Profile outlining a high-level view of a student’s educational identity, and Portfolios diving into the more specific project work and course assignments that the student has completed.
