MeritTrac Services, an India-based independent assessment company, has created a device which they expect can stop standardized test takers from misrepresenting themselves as another person through fake IDs and other fraudulent activities, according to an Express Buzz article.
The device, called AuthenTrac, utilizes face recognition between a picture the test taker registers with and the official ID the test-taker comes to take the test with.
How the system works is when a test-taker registers for a test they are expected to upload a picture that is transferred to a central database and when they arrive to take the test, the exam center will have the candidate enter their ID into the AuthenTrac device for authentication following the exam.
Officials from MeritTrac are expecting roughly 20 customers by the end of the year to begin using the new authentication system.
