Beginning this year, all Greenville County middle and high school students will be required to wear photo ID badges, according to district officials, according to The Travelers Rest Tribune.
Students will be required to wear their photo ID badge at all times while on campus, on field trips or attending school-only functions. Student ID badges will also be used to purchase lunch and check out media books and textbooks.
The new student ID badges will be provided free of charge at the beginning of the school year. Students must provide their own lanyards, which are required to be break-away for safety purposes, or purchased from the school.
During the first week of school, administrators and teachers will remind students if their ID badge is not properly displayed – with the photo side of the ID visible at all times. After this orientation period, students not wearing their ID badge will face disciplinary action.
