A new ID card system software at William and Mary has been approved and will receive a $1.1 million upgrade — to be drawn from a special-use fund — this summer, according to a report in the school’s newspaper.
The new ID software will mark the first update to the college’s card system in 17 years. William and Mary’s current card system will no longer be supported effective December 2013, forcing the school to implement a new solution.
William and Mary will make the switch from the Blackboard card system to a CBORD system.
Campus card officials don’t expect the day-to-day use of the cards to change dramatically, but the new ID system is sure to aid card and campus personnel alike.
