Today marks the official start date for NACCU’s new Executive Director, Dawn Thomas. She takes on the mantle after having been named successor to Lowell Adkins in mid March following an extensive candidate search by the association’s search committee.
Adkins, who retires from a long and distinguished career in the campus card industry, has been working alongside Thomas throughout the month of June to provide insights and facilitate the transition. Thomas brings extensive experience in higher education and association work and management, having held positions in academia and most recently spending 17 years with the National Association for Campus Activities.
Adkins began his time as Executive Director in March of 2004 and has been instrumental in bringing the corporate and higher education realms closer together. It was a goal that came as a result of Adkins’ experience on both the .com and .edu sides of the market.

Lowell Adkins retires as Executive Director after a distinguished career in the campus card industry.
Professional development and the establishment of a defined career path for campus card professionals were primary focuses for Adkins when he assumed the role of executive director some 12-years ago, and those efforts have helped to lay a framework for both current and future NACCU members.
The team at CR80News would like to again congratulate Dawn on her appointment as NACCU Executive Director, as well as thank Lowell for his 35 years of dedicated service to both NACCU and the larger campus card industry.
