Robert Lemley, director of Software Development at CBORD, discusses the mobile utilities beyond NFC.
Citing specifically those individuals who may not have a smart phone, Lemley stresses that CBORD have not forgotten about this segment of the population.
“We have the ability to just send a text, so you don’t have to have a smart phone, but you can still use your phone as a credential,” says Lemley.
Referring specifically to an initiative at Miami University where some 4,200 online locks were installed. By simple texting “open my door,” the student’s dorm room door was unlocked.
Lemley stresses that there are a number of utilities that mobile can offer, even without the added benefit of NFC technology.
