The University of Connecticut is issuing new campus cards, after making the decision to recard its entire population over the summer. CR80News recently caught up with UConn and ColorID, who assisted on the project, to talk about the new Husky One Card and the recarding process.

In this installment of NACCU’s It’s All About the Data video series, hear from Nirmal Palliyaguru, Director of the ACCESS Card Office at Santa Clara University, as he discusses some of the early applications of campus card data analytics as a means to  help students succeed. The University of Connecticut has begun its campus wide recarding with the issuance of its new contactless smart card credentials for students, faculty and staff. The new Husky One Cards are now available for all members of the UConn community and those with emeritus status.

A study conducted by researchers at Michigan State University, along with vending and payment solutions provider USA Technologies, has found significant performance boosts in cashless-enabled vending machines as compared to units only accepting cash and coin. The report highlights the common practice of outfitting only high-volume machines with cashless technology, but the study’s findings suggest that low-performing vending machines can provide significant revenue growth once equipped with cashless hardware.

In 2017, the University of Georgia made the advancement of card technology a priority on campus. After long leaning on a combination of mag stripe and prox card technologies, the need to update and upgrade was more than evident. So UGA’s OneCard Oversight Committee examined its card environment from within, and focused its decision making on a desire to own the entire card system process — encryption keys and all.

Pennsylvania’s Easton Area School District is set to expand its ScholarChip smart-card entry system to include campus visitors. The visitor management element joins area high school students who have been using the smart cards since the beginning of the school year.
