X-ident Happy 'Bout World Cup RFID Success
Futbol days are past, but the success of RFID systems used during the World Cup has Düren-based supplier of RFID tickets X-ident technology giddy.
The company issued a press release filled with details on how its “production and on-time delivery” of 4.8 million tickets was a smashing success.
So what does the future hold? More security for more stadiums, says the company.
RFID Solutions: X-ident Technology Produces A Top Performance
The World Cup has only just started, but the Düren based supplier of RFID tickets, X-ident technology, has already played its part with the production and on-time delivery of the 4.8 million tickets. In a logistical show of strength, and carried out in secret for security reasons, X-ident processed 20 tonnes of adhesive material to join 5 million tickets with as many transponders. With 60,000 visitors attending each of the 64 matches, this equates to 480 kg of tickets being carried to each game. The intelligent tickets will improve security at the stadiums just as they did during last year’s Confederation Cup.
By using double identification – RFID and name – FIFA aims to avoid any misuse of the tickets. Security is always important and is a top priority for the hosts, Germany. The transponder allows individual tickets to be ‘blocked’, e.g. when they are lost, and to be replaced at short notice with new, authorized tickets. X-ident technology was once again chosen for its experience and reliability in ticketing.
Alongside the Confederations Cup, X-ident had already supplied over 250,000 tickets to stadiums in the UK and thereby gathered the experience that separates it from the competition. X-ident also supplied 20,000 Smart Tickets for the Women’s European Championships which took place in England.
