Thursday, February 16 2006
"The 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy, are making good use of contactless technology in the form of smart payment cards for public transport and road tolls, according to smart card supplier ASK, which has provided contactless cards for the event..

Visitors to Torino can use the contactless card provided by ASK for both public transport and highway toll payments. The cards are being used by Gruppo Torinese Trasporti (GTT) and Società Italiana Traforo Autostrade del Frejus (SITAF) to drive the town's ticketing and fare collection system during the games."
