Aptika Launches IDpack Pro 7.5 to design and print plastic ID cards

Canadian photo card management software supplier Aptika has released a new version of its software that includes double-sided printing, mag stripe encoding, fingerprint capture, and dual-sided card design capabilities. The new software also allows for integration with more devices, such as barcode readers and digital cameras. 

GoPrint Systems, Inc. develops direct interface for the NuVision Networks One Card System

Network print management provider GoPrint Systems has developed a direct interface to NuVision Networks One Card System. While designed specifically for Texas A&M International University, the new interface will work with any school utilizing the One Card program and GoPrint’s GS-3. 

MIT, HID Global debut RFID and Privacy website at ISC West

Originally announced earlier this year, HID and MIT have now gone live with their jointly-produced RFID-oriented website designed to help people stay current with privacy issues, legislation, the technology’s potential uses, and more. The site is for anyone utilizing RFID, whether it be college campuses controlling access to buildings or businesses managing their inventories. 

Datastrip's DSVII-SC becomes first handheld biometric ID reader with built-in HID iCLASS support

Datastrip has upgraded its handheld biometric ID reader to accept HID iCLASS-based cards, eliminating the need for an add-on compact flash reader. The expanded reader, available in the third quarter, will sport a new smart card interface and means companies deploying iCLASS cards will be able to use the reader to extend identity checks beyond fixed doorways. 

Equitrac and eCopy announce scanner tracking capabilities

Print manager provider Equitrac and eCopy have released a single-terminal solution that slashes hardware needs required to track, manage and recover the costs of documents users scan, copy, print or fax. This latest in a series of collaborations between the two companies will provide their customers in the legal, education, and general office markets with full activity accounting and a greater ability to monitor and recover costs from all scanned documents.

Emory University enables online campus card deposits via PeopleSoft system

An Atlanta university seeking to reduce the number of checks passing through its business office now allows its students – or their parents – to handle many of those financial transactions electronically via their campus ID card. The result has been a 50% reduction in walk-in traffic, freeing up staff for other purposes.

“We were wanting to reduce the amount of checks and cash we handle in our operation,” explained Dave Siegel, director of EmoryCard and Campus Life Technical Services at Emory University.
