The Canadian Association of University Business Officers recognized Wilfrid Laurier University for its innovative and wide ranging use of its card program to serve students and improve efficiencies. The General Meters system serves as a library card, access card, a credit card (for faculty and staff), a host of on and off campus purchasing, and even for taxis and bus rides. 

Ten campuses had already purchased the Webfood online dining solution from CBORD this summer, and now add Boston College to the list. The campus will use it to enable online ordering of meals for pickup and delivery and facilitate card-based payments using their CS Gold card system. 

CS Gold from CBORD is about more than just cards. Ask North Carolina A&T, which has installed a centralized monitoring station with six digital video recorders networked to 57 cameras scattered throughout the campus. While the university had no security problems, the new CBORD-installed system provides a major benefit: students and staff feel safer. QiWAVE’s iCLASS solution increases transaction speed and convenience for the user, reduces or eliminates cash handling, reduces machine maintenance and extends card life by eliminating mechanical contact between the card and the reader. 

Moving to protect the records of its 60,000 students and faculty, a Scandinavian university has opted to implement an authentication solution supplied by Entrust IdentityGuard that will allow record access only by authorized parties.
