Switzerland-based LEGIC Identsystems has named two new license partners: Idesco Oy, its first in Finland, and Sitec Systems AG, Switzerland. Oy, one of the oldest RFID companies in the world, owns read only-chip design patents, while Sitec supplies custom-made safety and time management systems in Switzerland and in Europe.

Idesco Oy
Based in Oulu, on the North West coast of Finland, Idesco Oy is a hi-tech company that was founded in 1989 to utilise read only-chip design patents and tool identification products and is one of the oldest RFID companies in the world. Certified to ISO 9001:2000 standards, the company has introduced a number of world ‘firsts’ including the first read/write product for industrial applications in 1990 and the first proximity card for mass transportation in 1991.

Today Idesco Oy develops, manufactures and markets readers, reader modules, tags and cards based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. Together with its system integrator network Idesco delivers RFID products to customers worldwide for access control, factory automation, ticketing, hazardous environments, logistics, maintenance and asset marking applications. The company specialises in developing products for high-end applications by offering first-class technology options and especially elegant designs.

Jari Valtonen, President and CEO of Idesco Oy said: “Our appointment as LEGIC’s first Finnish licence partner gives us access to the secure, state-of-the-art LEGIC technology platform for contactless smart cards in the 13.56 MHz range, allowing us to incorporate this flexible RFID solution based on multi-application technology into our range of access control and ticketing products. We are pleased to welcome LEGIC technology to our product family.”

Stephen Neff, Vice President Sales & Marketing of LEGIC Identsystems Ltd, said: “Idesco has an outstanding reputation for cutting-edge development working in the field of RFID technology. We’re very proud that the company has decided to become our first licence partner in Finland and will, I am sure, further strengthen LEGIC’s position as the preferred choice for RFID technology in Scandinavia.”

Sitec Systems AG
Sitec Systems, which was founded in 1983 in Oensingen, Switzerland, is one of the leading supplier of custom-made safety and time management systems in Switzerland and in Europe. With proprietary software development and with hardware of selected partners Sitec Systems AG designs total systems for alarm and door management, card production, video supervision, time management and access control.

Max Keller, CEO at Sitec concludes: “By the licensing agreement we are given access to the highly secure contactless LEGIC smart card technology. This makes it possible for us to offer flexible solutions which are straightened perfectly to the customer needs. The LEGIC technology moreover is strongly common in our target markets in Switzerland and in Europe.”

Stephen Neff, Vice President Sales & Marketing at LEGIC, said: “We are pleased about the decision of Sitec to join our steadily growing partner network.
