The CardDB™ application, combined with the CardTool™ reader from TokenWorks, is a low cost platform for managing a large population of ID cardholders. Until now, this capability cost thousands of dollars in hardware and custom software. Using the expansion capabilities of the Handspring Visor PDA, TokenWorks is able to provide a portable magnetic card processing platform at a fraction of the price available just a few years ago. The low cost, easy-to-use features make it attractive for staff to use at college facilities, sporting events, entertainment venues, building entrances or transportation services.

TokenWorks developed the CardDB™ database application to provide a user-friendly solution to the problem of remote card status verification.  No wires, wireless infrastructure, or custom software development costs are necessary.  With supplied tools from TokenWorks, a Comma Separated Value (CVS) file containing card ID numbers and status is converted and downloaded to the device quickly. When a card is swiped, the access date and time are recorded in the database.  The application and reader measure activity attendance and provide information to follow up with non-authorized cardholders.
