Identive showcases NFC solutions at NACCU Conference

Identive Group will be showcasing its near field communication solutions for students and campuses during the National Association of Campus Card Users Annual Conference in Seattle, Wash.

“Mobile phones are a communications lifeline for college students, and the right NFC solutions can greatly extend the phones’ usefulness on a university campus,” said David Holmes, Identive’s vice president for mobility and NFC Solutions. “During the conference we will be discussing ways to implement (NFC) solutions on campuses.”


During the conference, company executives are also expected to discuss the utilization of NFC tags to deliver campus information with a tap of a student’s smart phone.

Identive offers a portfolio of RFID and identity management products, solutions and services for the higher education market, including NFC applications that enable students to use their mobile phones for physical and information access, social networking, cashless payments and more. [end] 

The National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) handed out its annual awards at its 20th Annual NACCU Conference held in Orlando, Fla.

The association bestowed its 2013 Distinguished Service Award to Joel Weidner, director of information systems and marketing at Pennsylvania State University. Weidner has been at Penn State for 30 years and has managed the automation process for many of the university’s systems, including food production and inventory control, event ticketing, payroll, residence hall security, dining plan card access and card-based vending, laundry and copier programs. He has also overseen two university-wide re-carding projects.
