Brockton High School is undergoing some security improvements around campus, including a trial run of the LobbyGaurd visitor management system, according to the Boston Globe.
Stepping through the front door at Brockton High School visitors are met with LobbyGaurd, a free-standing kiosk that scans visitor’s driver’s license, takes a picture and prints out a photo-ID sticker with their name and face on it.
LobbyGuard runs visitor information through the national sex offender registry and an internal list of data from families and the courts about who can, and can’t, have access to students. If a scan detects a problem, LobbyGuard prints a “void” pass and sends a text message to police officer in the building that the background check has failed.
The system can be accessed via computer or smart phone to view current visitors on campus, especially useful in emergency situations such as school lock downs, or in the event of a fire.
