Harvard, ColorID hosts New England Campus Identification & Security Seminar

Harvard Campus Services - ID Card Services co-hosted with ColorID the New England Campus Identification & Security Seminar.

The one-day event brought together card service managers from eight regional colleges and universities for a discussion about new card technologies and best card practices.


Guests experienced the latest insights into emerging campus trends and technologies. Seminars covered key card service topics including contactless cards and readers, cashless campus, card issuance, biometrics on campus and future trends.

Additionally, the seminar offered a forum to provide networking opportunities to promote dialogue and exchanging of ideas and information among New England’s universities and colleges.

The seminar concluded with ColorID providing hands-on demonstrations of contactless cards and readers, cashless campus systems, identification systems and biometric solutions. [end] 

CardSmith and ColorID have partnered to bring CardSmith’s cloud-based campus card solutions to ColorID’s customers in higher education and other market segments.

ColorID will now be able to offer CardSmith’s transaction management and related campus card solutions as part of its card products portfolio.

A 27-year-old man posing as a Harvard undergraduate student stayed in the dorms, ate in the school cafeteria and chatted with many Harvard students via Facebook before being found out by campus police. He was cited for trespassing and using a false identification card.

Missouri State University has selected Blackboard Transact to implement a contactless student ID card. This enables the new system to integrate student identification, door security, commerce and campus payment into a single contactless card.
