Bradley U, Salt Lake CC becomes the latest to benefit from BlackboardPay

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. and Salt Lake Community College are the latest to sign on for Blackboard Pay, the prepaid card program that enables institutions to disburse financial aid and student payroll to the campus ID card.

According to Campus Technology, both institutions deployed the Blackboard application four months back in order to streamline their student-related payment processes and eliminate the cutting and processing of paper checks.

Blackboard recently announced that more than 120,000 students are currently participating in the BlackboardPay program, further adding that the service eliminates an estimated $2 million per year in student overdraft and PIN debit fees.

The program is supported by the Allpoint Network, a national automated teller system that charges no fees for standard transactions. Through a partnership with Discover and First Data, Blackboard Pay allows students - like those at Bradley and Salt Lake CC - to use their student ID to make purchases anywhere Discover cards are accepted.
