Oklahoma City University, CardSmith launch new StarCard program

Oklahoma City University has teamed up campus card service provider CardSmith to launchthe StarCard - a new multi-functional ID card at the university’s Oklahoma City campus for the upcoming academic year.

Powered by CardSmith’s Software as a Service transaction solution, StarCard will enable OCU students cashless access to a range of campus facilities and services including dining locations, the bookstore, print and copy machines, laundry facilities, and off-campus merchants.


The CardSmith solution will enable OCU to provide upgraded card transaction services without local card systems or software, or dedicated administrative staff. Additional features included advanced meal plan and discretionary spending account processing, on-line cardholder account access, on-line reporting, on-line administrative access and 24/7/365 monitoring.

OCU is also issuing a newly-designed digital image card to all students this fall. The card will continue to enable electronic door access for resident students. [end] 

Tallahassee-based Florida A&M University and campus card service provider CardSmith have announced plans to upgrade the university’s multi-functional Rattler Card program.

The new Rattler Card will feature Rattler Bucks, a prepaid spending account offering FAMU’s more than 13,000 students cashless access to an expanded range of campus facilities and services including the bookstore, dining venues, mobile payments, campus offices and off-campus merchants.

This is great. Now OCU will be online we the larger schools OU and OSU. This is a great deal for parents with kids going to school. Can help keep track of cost. It would be interesting to know if the cards are mag stripe or RFID...just to see what the trend is.
