A unique use of a campus card is happening at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, said Wendy R. Welch, vice president of client services at CardSmith. The school has issued campus cards that correspond with each university owned and operated vehicle which can be used for fuel purchases.

“As the drivers check out the vehicles for their shift that day and they need fuel they can go to the participating station, use the FairleighOne card, fuel the vehicles and all that money remains internal,” Welch says. “And because its an off-campus merchant there’s royalties and commissions that come back to the school as part of that transaction.”

TravelCenters of America has agreed to purchase and install the RFID-enabled Fuel Island Manager cardless fuel transaction technology at all of its locations nationwide.

Developed by QuikQ, the Fuel Island Manager system offers travel centers and transportation companies a more efficient way for its drivers to fuel, while granting more options for the companies to control the fuel-purchasing process.
