University swipes campus cards for dorm access

Students at the University of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, India will now have to swipe their identity cards to get into their dorm rooms, according to a class 2 campus report.

The university will introduce he system in its Tagore International Home, housing international students. Soon thereafter, it will be extended to the university’s new 800-bed housing facility, for local students.


The new system will ensure security by assisting authorities in monitoring the students’ movement and denying entry to unauthorized visitors.

Officials also noted that in addition to the dorms, the swipe cards would be installed at the University Administrative Building to supervise employee’s work.
