LA community college taps Higher One for financial aid distribution

Beginning in the Fall Semester 2010, Higher One will provide Los Angeles Harbor College students with MyLACCD (Los Angeles Community College District) cards, according to the school’s newspaper.


Cards will be mailed to students following the submission of their financial aid applications, and two automated teller machines will be made available on the campus for students to access their funds.

Higher One will provide the MyLACCD card to all students receiving financial aid because checks will no longer be mailed.

Personal information of 9,000 current and prospective students was inadvertently posted online by Valencia College in Orlando. The school has apologized for the mistake.

The information included the students’ names, addresses, dates of birth and student ID numbers but not their Social Security numbers or financial information.

The contract covers six universities, 13 community colleges and 27 technology centers.
