Higher One has teamed with Langston University to help with the distribution of financial aid and other refund disbursements to students.

Using Higher One’s OneDisburse Refund Management solution, the campus will disburse refunds to students’ OneAccount, a type of electronic checking account. Students can then transfer these funds to a bank of their choosing, or spend them using the provided Debit MasterCard.

The new electronic system will eliminate a lot of problems associated with the university’s previous method of disbursement, which was only available in the form of a paper check.

Students no longer have to wait in lines to pick up their checks, which additionally take up to seven days to generate.

Under the new system students can get their refunds within 24 hours. They will also have the capability to sign up to receive text and/or email notifications and have access to pay bills online through a secure Web site. [end]

The LSCPlus Card will work similar to a debit card, storing any remaining student loan balances and work study, student employment payments. The new cards will also be used for access to campus services and functions, granting students’ library privileges, and a free Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) bus pass.
