Police at Lehigh University campus have apprehended the alleged culprit responsible for a four-month reign of burglaries resulting in $30,000 in theft, and did so with the aid of swipe card records, according to a lehighvalleylive.com article.
The burglaries occurred in the Campus Square apartments and the surrounding area, where authorities say that a campus janitor used his swipe card to access dorm rooms, sorority suites and other student living spaces.
Police sifted through swipe card records from the various locations and crosschecked them with the times and dates of the burglaries, and came up with a single suspect: the janitor. Police also added that the janitor was not scheduled to be in these areas during the time of the thefts, nor was he permitted to roam the campus.
According to police, the janitor stole a host of electronics, laptop computers, iPods and camera equipment.
