Blackboard acquires Saf-T-Net

Blackboard entered into an agreement to acquire Saf-T-Net, Inc., provider of AlertNow, a messaging and mass notification solution for K-12 schools.

The acquisition will total approximately $33 million, excluding transaction costs and subject to certain adjustments.


Saf-T-Net provides features that Blackboard will use to enhance and accelerate development of it’s own messaging and mass notification solution, Blackboard Connect.

Blackboard Connect includes new parent portal technology, enhanced survey capabilities and multi-lingual capabilities. [end] 

StarChip and CEA-Leti have inked a partnership agreement to develop a contactless front end for smart card applications.

The partnership includes technology and know-how transfer to StarChip. With this combined experience in secure integrated circuit development and contactless technology, StarChip will roll out state-of-the-art smart card products to enable applications in transport, banking and identity.

Returning students to Biola University, a private Christian university in Southern California, were all issued new campus ID cards to support the switch to a new system run by Blackboard, according to Biola’s student newspaper.
