Loyola University hosts ColorID's regional Campus ID Secuirty Seminar

Chicago-based Loyola University recently played host to ColorID’s regional Campus Identification Security Seminar. Presentations were held at the University’s digital research library, the Richard J. Klarchek Information Commons building.

Topics discussed included the latest in contactless card technologies, logical access and biometric identification devices for physical access. Products included iris cameras, fingerprint readers, logical access solutions, identification printers and employee background checking devices.


Attending schools held active discussions regarding the integration of campus ID cards within the local transit fare collection system, and attendees were even invited to participate in a hands-on demonstration of fingerprint and iris identification devices.

ColorID plans to continue their security seminar events throughout the U.S. in 2010. [end] 

HID Global has announced the successful completion of the world’s first university pilot of NFC smart phones carrying digital keys.

First announced in September, the pilot involved a select group of students and staff at Arizona State University using NFC-enabled smart phones equipped with HID’s Secure Identity Object (SIO) Technology. Participants could gain access to their residence halls and other secure access areas by tapping their handset against a reader embedded in the door and entering a PIN, rather than use their plastic campus card.

Campus card provider NuVision Networks, Napa, Calif., has named Brian Adoff as the company’s new executive vice president.

Adoff, formerly NuVision’s national sales manager, will now oversee company-wide operations and develop strategic partnerships.

PNC Bank and Loyola University Chicago have teamed together to provide personal financial services to the university’s nearly 16,000 students, faculty and staff.

As part of the new campus banking relationship, PNC will host financial literacy workshops for Loyola students and staff, covering topics ranging from basic banking to credit management and identity protection, savings and investing, as well as home buying.
