University seeks new card director

The University of Minnesota is seeking a director for its U Card Office. The person would be responsible for the administration, operation and maintenance of all aspects of the university’s card identification program that includes photo and digital signature identification, banking, building access, campus service access (library copiers and printers, print labs, equipment check-out), the meal plan and declining balance programs.

The U Card Office provides operational oversight and direction to the Twin Cities campus card program and provides leadership and oversight for the card programs on the University’s four other campuses. The U Card Office has an annual operating budget of about $800,000 and employs 7.6 FTE that includes full-time and student employees.

An UConn computer with the names and Social Security Numbers of more than 10,000 university applicants was stolen, according to a local news report.

The computer, stolen from an IT storage cabinet at university’s West Hartford campus, had applicant files ranging from 2004 through July 30. UConn officials are still investigating the theft, which was discovered on Aug. 3.
