Berklee College of Music, CardSmith extend campus card agreement

Berklee College of Music in Boston and CardSmith, a Doylestown, Pa.-based campus card provider, have announced a multi-year extension of their campus card services agreement which enables CardSmith to provide the school with a management service and solution for its Berklee Card, the college’s multiapplication ID card.


The card features a prepaid flexible spending account students that faculty and staff can use to make purchases at the campus bookstore, dining locations, copy and vending machines, laundry facilities, music practice rooms, Berklee Performance Center, business offices–and at a network of more than 70 off-campus businesses in the greater Boston area. Berklee Card is also accepted at diningin.com, a delivery service for more than 200 restaurants in the Boston area.

“The College’s card program has been significantly upgraded during the term of our relationship with CardSmith,” said John Eldert, vice president for administration. “We continue to believe that CardSmith’s ASP (application service provider) model is simply a better way for institutions to provide quality card services.” [end] 

Tallahassee-based Florida A&M University and campus card service provider CardSmith have announced plans to upgrade the university’s multi-functional Rattler Card program.

The new Rattler Card will feature Rattler Bucks, a prepaid spending account offering FAMU’s more than 13,000 students cashless access to an expanded range of campus facilities and services including the bookstore, dining venues, mobile payments, campus offices and off-campus merchants.

Research In Motion has unveiled a new device called the BlackBerry Music Gateway that can stream music wirelessly from an NFC-enabled BlackBerry handset.

Slated for release in June, the $50 device can be hooked up to a home stereo or car audio system via auxiliary input. To stream music, the user simply taps his or her NFC-enabled BlackBerry Bold 9790 or Curve 9360/9380 handset against the Music Gateway to establish a connection.
