CBORD signs up four new off-campus payment partners

Friday, March 6, 2009

CBORD Off-Campus Commerce, a subsidiary of Ithaca, N.Y.-based The CBORD Group, has added four new off-campus payment partners who will be able to increase the usage of their One Card programs by creating more options for their students’ ID cards.

With on-campus discretionary accounts already in place, opening up the accounts to off-campus locations for the four schools was the next step in expanding student services.

The new partners include the University of Southern Maine, with campuses in Portland, Gorham and Lewiston; the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio; Westfield State College in Westfield, Mass. and East Tennessee State University, Johnson City. Each of these clients has partnered with CBORD to expand their on-campus discretionary accounts to new locations off-campus.

“We had been interested in offering the off-campus payment option to our student body for quite some time, but the logistics of implementing it ourselves were daunting,” said Deb Nightingale, assistant director, Campus Card Services for the Maine university. “With CBORD Off-Campus Commerce, the day-to-day impact on our card office staff is minimal. While we still manage the growth and direction of the program, CBORD handles all of the back-end, from merchant recruitment and help desk to daily payments to participating merchants.”

All four universities utilize CBORD campus card solutions. East Tennessee uses CS Gold, while the other three use Odyssey PCS. CBORD offers a central server solution for Odyssey PCS and CS Gold, providing real-time connections between universities and merchants. [end]

The UK’s YESpay International and YES-wallet.com have teamed up to build an NFC-enabled cloud-based mobile payments platform.

By integrating the YES-wallet Pouch digital wallet with YESpay EMBOSS payment service, the companies will provide a platform that encompasses e-Money, pre-paid and gift-card payments based on Visa PayWave and MasterCard PayPass contactless standards.
