SmartCentric, Pharos partner for printing, copying solution for colleges

Friday, February 27, 2009

SmartCentric Technologies, Dublin, Ireland, has partnered with Pharos Systems, West Palm Beach, Fla., to implement an integrated printing and copy solution that will be added to SmartCentric’s multi-application smart card system deployed across university, college and corporate campuses.

With the new system in place, the SmartCity smart card-based system, which incorporates both contact and contactless smart card functionality, will allow customers to track, monitor, audit and control their print and copy assets to reduce waste, optimize performance, guide the purchase of new devices, and get more use out of existing ones devices.

Staff and students already use their campus ID card for SmartCity meal plans, point of sale on and off campus using up to four separate purses, vending, photocopying, secure logon to computers and the network and Web-based account revalue. Through the integration of the SmartCity solution with Pharos Uniprint, universities and colleges can achieve greater savings on print and copy costs while also providing a streamlined printing solution for staff and students. For corporate customers, SmartCity integrates with Pharos Blueprint Enterprise to offer the same advantages. [end]
