Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, is starting to re-issue some 50,000 ID cards to students, faculty and staff to comply with a new state law which places restrictions on the issuance of photo IDs.
One of the new requirements is that the college display on the card’s face that it can only be used on campus. The new cards will also have more security features and will identify the bearer as an administrator, faculty member, student or employee. The cards will also carry an expiration date. For faculty and staff, that’s six years, while students and their spouses will have to renew every two years.
