Many universities allow ID cards to be used for tanning services

More universities are allowing students to use their campus cards to get a tan. Several schools reported allowing students to use their cards to pay for tanning services off-campus and at least one university reported that it had a tanning salon on campus.

All this is despite several studies that have linked indoor tanning to skin cancer and melanoma. But as one university administrator commented: “We’re dealing with adults who can decide on their own.”

More schools are now using online platforms to distribute and exchange information, such as course documents and online tests. These same online platforms also serve as an administrative tool, containing personal data on students and staff. To prevent identity and data theft, online applications used by schools and universities need to be protected.
