Higher One buys EduCard

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Higher One, a financial services provider focused on the higher education market, has agreed to purchase the assets of EduCard LLC, an affiliate of software developer Evisions. The acquisition will give Intellecheck customers access to Higher One’s services.

Intellecheck 3.0 users who are interested in distributing refunds through Higher One will have the ability to access Higher One’s Refund Management services through the Intellecheck user interface.

“The Intellecheck 3.0 integration will enable users to issue cards to students and begin sending refunds through Higher One,” said Kevin Jones, Evisions president. “From an IT standpoint, the institution will be able to set up the program in about 15 minutes.”

Higher One’s OneDisburse Refund Management service enables colleges and universities to streamline the refund distribution process while giving students more choices on how they receive their refunds. The company currently services more than 110 institutions around the country.

Northland Pioneer College in Holbrook, Arizona has selected Higher One to help electronically distribute Financial Aid and scholarship refund disbursements to students.

Currently, students can only receive their refunds by a paper check, which means administrations spend long hours printing, stuffing, and organizing checks while students wait even longer to receive them.
