New York community college revises cash-card approach
Herkimer County Community College in New York will be adding more advantages to its Generals Cash Card program next fall. For example, the program will be opened up to all Herkimer County merchants who want to apply for and purchase a terminal–unless the vendor exclusively sells alcohol or tobacco.
In addition, according to the Utica Observer-Dispatch, funds from financial aid and student loans will only be available for use on campus. Students, however, can put money on the cards to spend at businesses in the community.
