Secure ID provider HID Global is adding a line of accessories, including five types of badge holders, lanyards and vinyl strap clips, to go along with its ID card printers and encoders. The new lines, showcased at ISC West, are expected to be available by early summer.


LAS VEGAS– HID Global, the trusted leader in providing solutions for the delivery of secure identity, has announced a new line of ID accessories at the ISC West International Security Conference and Exposition. This new line will include a wide selection of lanyards, retractable reels, badge holders and strap clips that complement HID’s line of ID card printer/encoders, software and materials.

Included in the line are: Lanyards – five different types including woven and flat styles are available in seven colors and five attachment styles.

Retractable reels – four reel styles, sixteen colors and two clip options offer convenient options for presentation of cards to proximity or magnetic stripe readers.

Badge holders – five styles clearly display IDs while protecting them during use.

Strap clips – five types of vinyl strap clips provide dependable attachment for badges.

“By adding accessories to our line of ID products, we’re offering our distribution partners everything they need for a total card solution from one source,” said Alan Fontanella, vice president of market strategies for HID Global’s secure issuance business. “We want to make accessories an easy add-on sale that will simplify their business while building revenue.”

A new biometric-secured external hard drive is being offered by LaCie, a developer of computer hardware and accessories, called The LaCie Rugged Safe.

The hard drive, which comes in either 500 gigabyte or 1 terabyte, also touts a rugged construction and AES 128-bit encryption. The biometric aspect of the device requires a fingerprint swipe of one of the up to ten authorized users to access any of the data contained on it.

The new Snapper product range includes three new Snapper devices - the Mini, the Mini Jr. and the Sprat - that are smaller and easier to use than the classic Snapper card, while maintaining the same everyday contactless payment capabilities, according to the company.

SmartMetric, a developer of portable biometric solutions, has announced that its biometric activated data card can now be used to contain full medical history and health records on the individual. The card, called the SmartMetric Data Card, is a standard sized card that has the capability of holding multiple pages of data as well as being inaccessible without the holder first scanning his fingerprint on the card itself.
