Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Ohio State’s catering department is implementing the NetCatering online management and ordering system from CBORD to facilitate operations. According to a company rep, “NetCatering gives consumers the power to book and edit catered events from the comfort of their own computers, while also reducing catering staff workloads.”

Ohio State University goes online with NetCatering from CBORD

Online catering and event management to drive convenience and accuracy

Ithaca, New York: The CBORD Group, Inc., a leading provider of food service and catering management software, is pleased to announce that Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, has chosen to implement NetCatering®, CBORD’s online catering and event management solution. The web-based system will help the school achieve its institutional goal of improving student accessibility to university services, and will also simplify its catering operations.

Ohio State researched online catering tools in an effort to improve productivity in managing its many catering orders. By enabling customers to view and edit event information via the web, NetCatering handles much of the work required to book events, allowing catering staff to focus on the “big picture” of catering operations and customer service.

Already a user of the Foodservice Suite® and EventMaster® PLUS! food service and catering management software packages from CBORD®, Ohio State will now be able to share information between the platforms, ensuring up-to-date information. The solutions also support the creation of catering “packages,” allowing users to quickly recreate the details of recurring events, rather than entering the same information time and again.

“We took our time and researched numerous online ordering solutions and software companies, and CBORD came out ahead,” says Larry Moore, Director of Catering, Ohio State University. “With NetCatering, our large student population, faculty, and staff will have 24/7 access to online event management software, and can place most orders themselves. The integration between Foodservice Suite, EventMaster PLUS!, and NetCatering will make running our business as seamless as technologically possible, allowing us to focus on great food and great customer service.”

“Today’s consumers demand online convenience, and Ohio State is serious about delivering this level of accessibility and efficiency to the university community at large,” says Randy Eckels, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, The CBORD Group, Inc. “NetCatering gives consumers the power to book and edit catered events from the comfort of their own computers, while also reducing catering staff workloads. We are very pleased to assist Ohio State in taking its already successful catering operations to the next level.”

As part of the university’s Student Affairs Risk Assessment efforts, Ohio State University is using RFID technology to combat bike theft.

Coined “Bug Your Bike,” the program gives students the option to obtain a free RFID tag which can be placed on their bikes to prevent theft. Police can then use this technology to positively identify stolen bicycles and to return the property to their rightful owners.
