First campus installation of new contactless payment system deployed

QI Systems Inc. has completed the initial shipment of equipment for its new QiWave™ contactless payment system as part of a multi-phase development and supply contract for a campus installation. The hardware sale of approximately $200,000 is expected to be the first of several such orders for QI Systems’ QiWave™ contactless payment technology designed for use in a wide variety unattended applications. QiWave provides a one card payment solution for devices such as laundry equipment, vending machines, printers, copiers and parking equipment, using both contact and contactless cards.

Mobile operator Digicel Pacific Limited has announced the deployment of VeriFone’s mWallet services and NFC-enabled payment systems in the Kingdom of Tonga.

Starting this week, Digicel subscribers in the the Tongan capital Nuku’alofa will be able to receive NFC tags that are linked to their mobile phone numbers and VeriFone’s contactless payment acceptance systems.
