WALTHAM, Mass. – Mac-Gray Corporation, the nation’s premier provider of laundry facilities management services, presented the features and benefits of its proprietary LaundryView on-line laundry room monitoring system to the participants of the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) pre-conference tour held at Georgia Institute of Technology in early March. Over 150 representatives from colleges and universities around the United States attended the LaundryView tutorial, which was demonstrated in one of the school’s laundry rooms.

LaundryView allows students to access a 3-D view of their residence hall’s laundry rooms from their PC. They are able to see which machines are in use and how much time remains in the laundry cycle. They can also receive notification by computer, cell phone or wireless PDA when their wash cycle is done or when a requested number of machines become available. In addition, users can access hourly usage reports to help them avoid the busiest times and better manage their schedules. The system promotes conservation awareness by using high-efficiency washing machines and displaying a real-time calculation of the cumulative amount of water saved in the laundry room.

In addition to student benefits, the benefits of LaundryView to school administrators include the system’s ability to detect and self-report machine malfunction, automatically alerting a Mac-Gray service technician to investigate. In addition, the system requires no campus infrastructure beyond a standard Ethernet connection.
