Support for iCLASS contactless technology added to SmartCentric offering

Support for the iCLASS® contactless technology from HID is expected to be available (Q2 2007) in the SmartCity® smart card offering from SmartCentric Technologies. According to SmartCentric, this will include cashless purchases at POS, vending machines, laundry, printers, and dining as well as both logical access and physical access. The SmartCity platform is used by college and university campuses, military bases, shopping malls, and other environments.


SmartCentric adds HID iCLASS® Support to SmartCity® Product Suite

SmartCentric Technologies International Ltd (SmartCentric), the leading provider of smart card systems in the campus market, announced today they have been working with HID Global to add iCLASS® support to the full SmartCity® Product Suite. This will include cashless purchases at POS, vending machines, laundry, Pay for Print, meal plan, Web Revalue of cards, cardholder portal, logical access and physical access using iCLASS cards.

As an HID iCLASS Development Partner, SmartCentric has been working with HID Global to ensure that the iCLASS implementation is robust and supports campus’ needs for a multi-application smart card. It is anticipated that the full implementation will be complete by Q2 2007.
